The Start of Friendship

Up until very recently, Boosie was curious about Jackson and would lick his toes and occasionally steal a kiss on his cheek, but the two didn't really interact much.  Jackson has discovered that Boosie is very fun to watch, especially when he is playing fetch or tug-of-war with Mommy or Daddy!  And Boosie has discovered that he really enjoys the taste of secondhand breast milk...yuck!  I didn't realize that the baby feeding the dog would start so early!!

The other day, Jackson was playing on his kick mat and I look over and Boosie is licking the top of Jackson's head.  I was thinking, "How cute!  He sure loves his little baby."  Although, that may be true, the baby had just spit up and his head was resting in a nice puddle of yucky, regurgitated milk.

Another new thing for Jackson, is being able to play in his little activity station.  Boosie, has discovered that when Jackson is in it, not only is he perfect licking height, but when he spits up, it lands on the floor and makes for a delicious snack.  I wonder what other shenanigans these two will get into...

"JACK" 'O' Lantern

I happened across the most adorable picture of a baby in a pumpkin on Pintrest and thought to myself, "I could do that with Jackson."  I'm sure Jackson wished I had never run across that picture, but he did make the cutest little "JACK" 'O' Lantern!!

I'm sure people were  wondering what we were doing when we were holding every potential pumpkin next to our baby, but we were just measuring for size.  Bryan cut all the holes and I carved out all the seeds and yucky insides.  We had to make a few adjustments to the leg holes after realizing that our baby has some thighs on him!  It took us three tries to get him settled in the pumpkin and he wasn't a fan of the process, at all.  We almost gave up due to his protests, but once he was all situated he didn't seem to care one bit that he was sitting in a pumpkin!!

Our Lil' Pumpkin

We went to pick out a pumpkin at the Farmer's Market!

So handsome!

3 Months Old

Jackson has become quite the vocal lil' man!  He talks and coos  and squeals when he wakes in the morning, during feeding breaks, on walks and especially during playtime and diaper changes.  He loves his changing table!  He is also becoming very responsive to the world around him.  He will watch Boosie like a hawk and tries to sneak peaks at the colorful lights on the tv.

Most nights, Jackson will only wake once.  So although he is sleeping better at night, he is quickly learning the signs that Mommy is trying to put him down for a nap during the day and doesn't like it.  I think he is afraid he is going to miss something!!  However, he is usually so tired from taking in so much of the world around him, that he quickly loses that battle.

He is now able to sit up for longer periods of times, support his head all the time, grab things more accurately, and put things in his mouth.  Such a big boy!

Visiting Great Grandma Tallman

We went on our first big trip on an airplane to see her in Minneapolis.  A wedding in the family was a great excuse for everyone to come together.  It was really special for Jackson to meet his only living great-grandparent on mommy's side, Grandma Pauline.

We were very concerned about being "those people with a baby" on the airplane, but Jackson did remarkably well.  He slept almost the entire flight there and back and we received several compliments from people sitting near us on the plane.  Phew!  That was such a relief!  We even got to experience a few perks by flying with a baby.  For instance, we got to bypass all the people in the security line and then board the plane first.  We'll take it!

Much of our trip was spent catching up with family and they had a wonderful time spoiling Jackson with snuggles and kisses!  Amidst fighting over who gets to change the next diaper or rock the baby to sleep, we even managed to get a few games in.  Jackson was a great help!

He was such a stud at the wedding!  So handsome and well dressed!! He was well behaved at the wedding but got tired quickly at the reception with all the people to see, lights and music.  He slept very well that night!!

A Day in the Life

Jackson leads a very busy life bouncing between "mommy days" and "daddy days."  Morning time is one of Jackson's best times.  This is his favorite time to coo and talk and smile!  It is also a great time to take a walk around the neighborhood while it is still cool outside.  Then it's time for a story before his morning nap.  His two favorite books right now are Giraffes Can't Dance and I'll Love You Forever.  The past two mornings, he's fallen asleep reading I'll Love You Forever when the last page gets turned as mommy rocks him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth.

Jackson has been telling us that his nap time is over by rolling over on many occasions the past two weeks.  Although he is very strong, he still has to be just in the right position to get all the way around.  He can hold up his head as long as needed, push up on his arms for several minutes and stand for 30 seconds before losing his balance.

After a nap is playtime.  He has gotten much better at playtime.  He will reach for toys and has about a 25% success rate of actually grabbing them.  He mostly likes looking at all the pretty patterns and colors.  Boosie thinks that if Jackson gets to play, then so should he and will often bring a toy over to participate in playtime, too!!

In the afternoon, Jackson loves to help mommy with all the household chores.  He helps her do the dishes, fold laundry, vacuum and make dinner. When helping with chores, he's usually attached to mommy via a wrap.  On occasion, Mommy has to get more creative...

And around 8 o'clock, it's time to get cleaned up and in his sleep suit.  All ready for bed!!
