The Baby Monitor

As Jackson gets older, he has become much more active in his crib when either falling asleep or once he wakes up.  Occasionally he will wake up crying, but most of the time, we know he's awake because we hear him playing.

As he has been in a throwing phase, he likes to throw his pacifier out of the crib and it is not uncommon for us to find them half way across the room. He also likes to roll, flail, kick and bang things against the sides of his crib.  On occasion, this means he gets his arms or legs stuck in the slats and we have to go in and rescue him...we usually know because his play sounds or general tired fussiness amps up to a shriek of panic even though he's not hurt, just stuck with his chunky little limbs.

We have a great view of all of this with the camera that sets along the top ledge of his crib.  The cord is along the outside of the crib so that in the case that he decides to tug on the cord, it would fall outside of the crib and not on him.  However, on several occasions, he has kicked and kicked the crib until he gets the monitor to fall into the crib instead.  This has happened 5 times in the last two weeks.  The first of which was in the middle of the night and I woke up to check on him and was treated with a lovely moving picture that sometimes showed an eye or the inside of his mouth or the side of the crib.  This picture is what I woke up to this morning...

I think we are going to have to fasten this camera down as he begins to pull himself up to a stand in his crib and will be able to reach the camera whenever he likes.
